Original Oil Painting on Canvas: 'Danger'
Original oil painting using Australian oil paints and linseed oil on canvas (11.7 × 16.5 inches).
This is the first Australian-inspired painting I completed after arriving in the country in 2025.
Drawn from a collection of reference images taken on a trip through Kakadu National Park in Northern Territory, this painting captures the beautiful and vibrant yellows and greens of the forest as sunlight hit the water and boulders in the creek.
It was absolutely nerve-wracking swimming at several waterfalls in park, with the knowledge that there could possibly be a croc present! Warning signs like the one painted were planted at the base of every trail, and I twice saw park rangers slipping through the trees to bait a trap with large chunks of meat.
This painting captures the beauty of the wild, complete with its undercurrent of danger.
